  • BSc Industrial Chemistry (Model II)

The Department of Chemistry, which came into existence in 1965. The chemistry Department became a fully fledged department with the beginning of a degree course in Chemistry in the year 1999. Post graduate course in Pure Chemistry started in 2003. The degree programme is Model II , B.Sc.Chemistry with Industrial Chemistry as vocational course. The highlight of this course is that the students have to undergo on the job training in a major chemical factory. During the training they have to complete a project work and submit a report. The Department offers open Course  in Food Science/Environmental chemistry  which is opted by students  from other departments .The Department of Physics has complementary course in Chemistry which is handled by the faculty of Chemistry . M.Sc Chemistry is a four semester programme affiliated to M.G University, Kottayam.

With the focus on enhancing the knowledge and skills of the students the department conducts inter-Departmental and inter-collegiate activities, through the Science Associations and Chemistry Club. The Department strives to inculcate in students a scientific curiosity, enhance technical skills and sensitise them to social and environmental issues through the social awareness programme and service-learning programmes. The department is also involved in numerous outreach programmes for the uplift of society.
