Inauguration of IEDC and Webinar on Innovation and Entrepreneurship

IEDC cell of St. Paul’s in collaboration with Department of Commerce and Office Of Dean Training and Development organized  webinar as part of formal inauguration of activities of IEDC cell for the current academic year on the topic “Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ the resource person for the webinar was Dr. Victor George (Former Registrar KUFOS). Programme started with a welcome note by Sandra, student of II M.Com followed by introduction of resource person by Athira T.A of same class. Presidential address was delivered by Associate Manager Fr. Joseph Antony Palliparambil and Dr. Savitha K.S Principal St. Paul’s College Kalamassery felicitated the session. Inaugural address and formal inauguration of the IEDC Cell was done by Dr. Victor George. Followed by his session on topic Innovation and Entrepreneurship which was fruitful session combining theories and real experiences in the area. Programme ended with vote of  thanks by Mr. Siby KM Coordinator IEDC cell. Efrath Zameen of II M.Com was the master of the cermoney.

 Department of Commerce organized Best Manager Contest in association with GIIMS , Institute of Logistics Kochi on January 13th 2021.The program was a grand success. Around 100 students from different departments participated in the Event. Ms.Teresa Stephen, Head of the department of Commerce was the co-ordinator for the program. Department is conducting this event for the past Three years. Through this event, the students were motivated to excel their abilities. The program was conducted through Google Meet.

Schola Brevis

Department of Commerce organized Schola Brevis for First Year Students of B.Com Tax on December 3rd 2020.Topic of the Webinar was :Opportunities in Banking Sector. Resource Person was Mr.Motty Joseph, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department, Government Arts and Science College, Ollur, Thrissur. Around 50 students participated the program. Mr. John Mathew was the co-ordinator for the Program. It was a grand success.

Two day National Conference

Department of Commerce in association with Office of Dean, Research organized a Two day National Conference on November 23rd and 24th 2020.Topic of the conference was “How to identify a Research Problem”. Third year students were the audience for the programme. Mr.Vineeth K M, Assistant Professor and Research Supervisor, Department of Commerce, Government College Thripunithra acted as the Resource person.Organising Committee were both Commerce Department and Office of the Dean, Research. Dr.Poornima N ,Dean and Lt.Dr.Varun V Varghese ,Coordinator and Deputy Dean ,Research  and Commerce HOD Teresa Stephen were present in the meeting. Students had an overview of how to select a Research Topic. Webinar was attended by 109 students and 7 teachers.

Role of Educational Institutions in preventing Sexual Harassment  

The webinar was organized by PG Department of Commerce in association with Prevention of Sexual Harassment Committee on 17th July,2020, Friday, from 4.00 PM to 5.00 PM. The beneficiaries of the programme were final year degree students.  The link for registration form and brochure for webinar were circulated among various student and faculty groups. A total of 48 aspirants registered for the webinar. The sessions of the webinar handled by external expert.  Ms, Kartika K Assistant Professor, P G Department of Commerce, NSS Hindu College, Changanacherry. 

The discussion was about “Role of Educational Institutions in preventing Sexual Harassment”. He explains sexual agency & subjectivity. He added the importance of promote healthy relationship for everyone &preventing and responding to sexual harassment. the session was very interactive. the students raised their doubts about these topics & he explained in in a very simple manner. the participants were highly satisfied with the webinar. the participants were highly satisfied with the webinar. The webinar came to an end by Vote of Thanks given by Ms. Ann Elson of final year B. Com Computer Applications. The link for the feedback form was put in the Google meet chat box. E- Certificates were generated automatically and sent to the corresponding mail ids of the participants.

Intellectual Property Rights

The webinar was organized by PG Department of Commerce in association with Office of Training & development  on 10th July,2020, Friday, from 1.00 PM to 2.00 PM. The beneficiaries of the programme were final year degree students.  The link for registration form and brochure for webinar were circulated among various student and faculty groups. A total of 61 aspirants registered for the webinar. The sessions of the webinar handled by external expert.  Sri Abdurahiman Karuthedath, Assistant Professor, Department of Management, Malabar College, Vengara. The discussion was about “Copyrights and Related Rights and Patents: Importance in Research and Innovation”. He touched upon the various aspects of Copyrights and Related Rights, their duration, fair use etc.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT

Venue: Masco Tea Factory, Vagamon
II year B.Com. Computer Application Students of the department visited Masco Tea Factory, Vagamon as part of Industrial Visit. The students got a deep understanding about the manufacturing and preservation of tea. The students presented their views regarding the future prospects of tea industry with reference to Masco Tea Factory, Vagamon.

VEGETABLE CARPET

Date & Venue : 26th August, 2019, College Portico.

Brief Description of the programme: Students and teachers of Department of Commerce arranged a Vegetable Carpet instead of flower carpet as part of the Onam celebrations of the department on 9 Sep 2017. The vegetable for this purpose was contributed by students and faculty of the department. After the celebrations, more than 350 kilo vegetables used for the carpet were given to the Theruvoram NGO, Kakkanad.

EXTENSION ACTIVITY

Date & Venue : 22nd August, 2019, Theruvoram NGO, Kakkanad.

Brief Description of the programme: II year B.Com. Computer Application Students visited Theruvoram NGO, Kakkanad as part of Extension Activity of the Department. The students have actively mingled with the inhabitants. This programme helped the students to love and help each other. A spirit of kindness inculcated in the minds of students.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT

Date & Venue : 26th August, 2019, Agricultural University, Mannuthy and Peechi Dam, Thrissur.

Brief Description of the programme: II year B.Com. Taxation Students visited Agricultural University, Mannuthy and Peechi Dam, Thrissur as part of Industrial Visit. A class was taken by the Staff of Agricultural University. On the same day, the students also visited Peechi Dam, Thrissur. The visit was very entertaining and informative at the same time. The students got a detailed understanding about the functioning of Dam. The interactive session was very informative.

Brief Description of the programme: II year B.Com. Computer Application Students conducted an industrial visit to Modern Breads, Edappally on 22nd August, 2019 as part of Industrial Visit. The programme was a great success with an interactive session.

INTER COLLEGIATE FEST -TESORO 2K19

 

Date: January 22nd ,2019

Event: Inter Collegiate Fest

              In connection with the Ruby Jubilee Celebrations department is organised a Commerce Fest (Tesoro 2k19) on 22nd January, 2019. Business Quiz, Photography, Dance, Treasure Hunt, 3’s football, online games ‘PES and Pubg’ are the major events for the fest. Cine Artist Chethan Jayalal inaugurated the event. Students from more than 50 colleges participated in the fest.
